Courage is a concept I’ve been thinking about a lot recently. Just ordinary courage, not superhero-grade stuff. I think courage is feeling fear and vulnerability, and showing up with grace anyway. Showing up with grace requires practice. Maybe the first several times you show up with anger, or judgment, or silence. The only way to get to grace is to keep trying.

Speaking up when you feel something is wrong, reaching out to a trusted friend for advice, admitting you don’t know what to do, apologizing for that thoughtless thing you did…all of that requires ordinary courage. Just because it’s ordinary doesn’t mean it’s easy.
