Benthocodon Hyalinus has earned its common name of “Cosmic Jellyfish.” It has two sets of arms which, when fully extended, resemble a classic flying saucer. The glowing yellow reproductive organs visible in its bell add to its otherworldly mystique. I’ve chosen to depict it hovering, arms outstretched, just over its scientific name. This hydrozoan is a bathypelagic animal, meaning it’s found in the midnight zone of the ocean.
